NHS staff need your help now

Workforce burnout across the NHS has reached emergency levels risking future functioning of the UK healthcare service

We don't have time to wait for the system to change

Please donate to NHSOS today to make a positive difference to the mental health of our healthcare practitioners

NHSOS HELPS DOCTORS & HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONERS

NHSOS is a Community Interest Company delivering psychological support to doctors and healthcare practitioners in the UK.

NHSOS provide weekly online group sessions led by experienced healthcare professionals who have trained and worked in the NHS.

NHSOS is not part of the NHS which is important as many of our group members feel betrayed by a system they once trusted.  Our independence from the NHS fosters a more open and authentic sharing experience.

NHSOS acknowledge the hard work and dedication of healthcare practitioners and regularly witness the long term negative effects of "toxic goodwill" experienced by over stretched and under resourced medical practitioners.  NHSOS group members often face immense pressure to stretch their own resources to support colleagues and patients within the NHS.  This goodwill, while well-intentioned, can lead to exhaustion and burnout - the 'toxic' component of 'toxic goodwill'.

NHSOS offer psychological support to doctors and healthcare practitioners suffering with chronic illness after contracting COVID-19 during the pandemic.  Our groups are structured around evidence based therapeutic techniques to address the psychological, physical and social impacts of Long Covid.

When Practitioner Health withdrew funding for Long COVID support groups in 2023 NHSOS stepped in and has been subsidising this important work ever since.

NHSOS now need your donations to continue this much needed work and expand our services.

More and more healthcare practitioners are struggling with their health whilst trying to carry out their work, or are no longer able to work due to their illnesses, surviving on UC
(Universal Credit) or PIP (Personal Independence Payments for those needing extra care or mobility needs resulting from a disability).

Below are real words from experienced Doctors participating in NHSOS support groups and provide a snapshot the difficulties and fears they face on a daily basis;

...the whole long Covid experience has left me with less confidence in having symptoms taken seriously...

I get the fear every time I speak to a health care professional ... or anyone actually... about something health related.

NHSOS helps doctors and healthcare professionals who need support themselves.  Our work offers a confidential space outside of the NHS for doctors and healthcare practitioners to explore the help they need and to start their journey of recovery.
Participants of NHSOS support groups report significant health benefits and experience positive change in their lives.
